The lyrics (bol) used in many compositions of Indian music are replete with descriptions of the qualities and attributes of a number of deities like Krishna, Shiva, Ganapati, Saraswati, Durga etc. Sometimes, the descriptions also allude to the spouse, animal mount and musical instrument associated with the deity.
In this thematic concert, Kaushiki Chakraborty will present several such compositions on celebrated deities of the Hindu pantheon. The selection will include madhya laya (medium tempo) and drut (fast tempo) compositions in classical as well as semi-classical genres.
