BAHUKRIYA
Bharatanatyam by Rama Vaidyanathan & troupe
and
Khańkhanā – The Sound of Dancing Feet
Odissi by Surupa Sen & Nrityagram ensemble

Rama Vaidyanathan is one of the most sought-after artistes of her generation. She has trained extensively under Yamini Krishnamurthy and Saroja Vaidyanathan. While deeply rooted in tradition, Vaidyanathan has evolved her own individual style without forsaking the core principles of Bharatanatyam. She is one of the directors of Ganesa Natyalaya, one of India’s premier Bharatanatyam institutes, and has received numerous awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, the Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Nrithya Choodamani from Krishna Gana Sabha and the prestigious Nritya Kalanidhi Award from The Music Academy, Madras. Vaidyanathan has performed at major dance venues in India and internationally.

Surupa Sen began her Odissi training under Kelucharan Mohapatra, widely regarded as the architect of Odissi. Her pursuit of excellence in the form also led her to study with eminent dancers such as Protima Gauri, Ratikant Mohapatra and Bichitranandan Swain. Complementing her training in movement, Sen studied abhinaya with Kalanidhi Narayanan and the Natyashastra under the guidance of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. She holds the distinction of being the first student to graduate from Nrityagram in Karnataka and currently serves as its Artistic Director. In recognition of her artistic contributions, Sen received a grant from The Asian Cultural Council, New York, in June 2000, which enabled her to attend the International Choreographers Residency at the American Dance Festival. She has been honoured with the Raza Foundation Award, the Yagnaraman and Nrithya Choodamani awards from Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai and the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
