Schubert: Trio No. 1 in B Flat
In this series of talks on Western classical music, Dr. Cavas Bilimoria takes listeners through musical concepts, the lives of composers and their famous works, interspersed with examples from recorded music. The talks in November are about Schubert, starting with his Piano Trio No. 1. A lively and buoyant work with profound lyricism, it was finished in 1828, the last year of Schubert’s life. Robert Schumann’s words encapsulate the work beautifully: “One glance at Schubert’s trio and the troubles of our existence disappear and all the world is fresh and bright again.”
