Dvořák’s Cello Concerto
This talk, the second in the series in June by Dr. Cavas Bilimoria, explores Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, composed between 1894 and 1895, at the end of his three-year tenure as Director of the National Conservatory in New York. The work is considered one of the finest cello concertos. The second and third movements stir up a meditative ending as they were rewritten—as a farewell—after the tragic death of the woman he loved.
