Edvard Grieg: Holberg Suite

The second talk of the series by Dr. Cavas Bilimoria this month will focus on the Holberg Suite by Norwegian composer and pianist Edvard Grieg. The work was composed to mark the 200th birth anniversary of the Norwegian writer Ludvig Holberg, who lived in the age of Bach and Handel. Grieg wrote the piece in the old style but with his own distinctive Romantic inspiration. Originally composed for the piano, the suite’s immediate success led Grieg to rework it for a string orchestra.

Entry free on a first come, first served basis.
