Thakishi Samvaad is a significant work in Satish Alekar’s career, being his first play published before it hit the stage. It unfolds during a pandemic lockdown, focusing on an elderly character surrounded by Amazon boxes, which symbolize both modern buying habits and the loneliness of the times. The protagonist shares deep conversations about Marathi playwrights and Theatre history with Thaki, his caring nurse. Together, they face the challenges of the pandemic, with the Amazon boxes silently witnessing the changing world around them. The play explores themes of loneliness, resilience, and the human need for connection. Alekar’s storytelling skilfully captures this unique historical moment, prompting audiences to ponder the complexities of humans.
