Poetry of Janabai, Shah Abdul Latif, St. John of the Cross and Farīd al-Dīn ʿAṭṭār
The Ecstatic Voices is a collection of poems by four mystical poets: Janabai (13th Cen), Shah Abdul Latif (18th Cen), St. John of the Cross (16th Cen) and Farīd al-Dīn ʿAṭṭār (12th Cen) yearning to meet their beloved to emulsify and become one with the divine eternally. Dr. Omkar Bhatkar, the Artistic Director of Metamorphosis Theatre and Films for the last ten years has been exploring poetry as a performance and has been able to create an aesthetic sensibility beyond genres at the crossroads of theatre, dance, film, and poetry. The sacred poems of these four mystics are woven like flowers in a prayerful garland using music and movement to be offered at the altar of Love.
