Music arrangement: Kamlesh Bhadkamkar

An NCPA Presentation

Supported by Mariwala Foundation and Oilmax Energy Pvt. Ltd.

This thematic presentation has been designed to enable uninitiated listeners to appreciate the rich legacy of ragas in Hindustani music by associating a particular raga with a corresponding film song based on it.

Born with a silky voice and outstanding talent, Sharayu Date was initiated into music by her mother, Anjali Date, and later trained with Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar. At present, she is a disciple of Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande. She is at ease with genres ranging from classical (art) music to Marathi natyasangeet and also other semi-classical and light forms, such as the ghazal, bhavgeet and bhaktigeet. Starting at a young age, she has participated in several popular TV shows. Besides singing for award-winning films and TV serials, she has to her credit, several public performances in India and overseas. She is a recipient of many awards.

In this event, she will present songs from both the classics and recent movies, immortalised by eminent female singers, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyanpur and Sadhana Sargam, and also those sung by classical vocalists, Kishori Amonkar and Parveen Sultana.
