A musical in Marathi & Kannada with English subtitles

Supported by Bajaj Beyond

‘Tuji Aukaat Kaye?’ is a Musical in Marathi and Kannada. Based on Vedika Kumarswami’s book ‘Gaavnavri’, this musical tells the story of an 11- year-old bride who defies tradition by cutting ties with her ancient groom, the God. Vedika, escaping the fate of a devadasi, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. She challenges the sacred myths of goddesses, forging her own path. Our team, inspired by collaborations with artists from across India, brings the country’s rich musical heritage to the stage. Drawing from traditions like Bhajan, Kirtan, Vasudev, and Jogappa, the play features eight songs, including a Ganesh Vandanam by B.V. Karanth, Kannada songs from the Jogappa traditions, and original compositions. Through these songs, we celebrate India’s diverse musical culture.
