Unishe April (1994) is a Bengali feature film directed by Rituparno Ghosh. It explores the complex relationship between a classical dancer, Sarojini Gupta (Aparna Sen), and her fiercely independent daughter, Aditi Sen (Debasree Roy). The Directors realistic cinematic style explores psychological realms of the two women through smartly composed dialogues and controlled acting. Movement through time is depicted through smooth transitions between the past and the present, which effectively reflect the character’s state of mind.

The film screening will be followed by a post film discussion with Shubhra Gupta, Film Critic, The Indian Express.
