Celebrating 20 years of service to music
Etawah gharana is prominent among the seven different styles prevalent today, with respect to the sitar and surbahar. The tradition has been shaped by several legendary instrumentalists such as Imdad Khan, Enayet Khan and Vilayat Khan. Imrat Khan, an eminent sitar and surbahar player belonging to this lineage, has rendered yeoman service by training his sons to carry forth their rich musical legacy on sitar and allied instruments. Trained from a very young age, Nishat Khan (sitar), Irshad Khan (surbahar & sitar) and Wajahat Khan (sarod) are acclaimed for technical mastery over their respective instruments. Having a wide repertoire of genres ranging from classical and semi-classical to folk and fusion, all of them have international careers, collaborating with eminent artistes from across the world.
In this recital the three brothers will perform individually as well as together, showcasing the distinct repertoire of their illustrious gharana.
