An NCPA Presentation

A disciple of Padma Bhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra and a recipient of senior fellowship by the Ministry of Culture, Shubhada Varadkar will present Madhuram along with her troupe. Madhuram is a beautiful depiction of the endless and ever-enduring interaction between human and divine love. Portrayal of this eternal love is seen in the poems of great saint poets of India. The performance portrays the kaleidoscopic range of Lord Krishna’s persona as depicted by saint-poets such as Adi Shankaracharya, Jayadeva and Dnyaneshwar.

Krishna – The Liberator
Shama Bhate is the director of a unique institute – Nadroop – based in Pune. Her work spans over 35 years as a performer, teacher, choreographer, artistic director and thinker. In the Indian conscience, Krishna is a complete personality – poorna purush. He is the soulmate, the saviour, the guide, the visionary and also the philosopher. He is the ‘Jagadguru’, the manifestation of wisdom of humankind. He is the epitome of knowledge and, therefore, in Krishna, we find the omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent spirit of the universal itself.
