Performing item details:
1. Aadi…
The beginning is what we understand with the word “Aadi”. A beginning that resonates of continuation. We see the beginning of a traditional technical repertoire of Kathak with the vastness of Vilambit Laya, and the playful permutation- combination of syllables, set in the buoyant weaves of 16 beats, plattered with Upaj, Thaat, Uthaan etc. with breathless spins, agile movements and lightning speed footwork.
2. Ardent love
A maiden, who simply wants to find her way home, after being done with her daily chores, finds being caught up by her lover. It is she as well who expects him every day on the way home, either after filling her pot of water from the river, or after collecting flowers for the prayers. Those are their only cue meets for the day, when the celebrate their, young and spontaneous love for each other. All of this, beautifully described through a traditional couplet in raag Bageshree- “Apni Garaj Pakad leeni Baiyaan…”
3. Anant
It is the dance to the infinity. The dance of meticulous calculations in the fast tempo, with precise syllables, movements, footworks and spins, embedded with Tukda, paran, ladi etc.
