Join Alok Vaid-Menon, an internationally acclaimed author, poet, comedian, public speaker and a pioneer for fiercely being your true self as they bring their unique blend of comedy, poetry and music show to their homeland, India!

Kommune presents Alok India Tour where you get to witness Alok V Menon’s unapologetic humour and powerful poetry along with other incredible artists from across the country come together for a show that will have you laughing, crying and sometimes crying laughing!

About Alok:
Alok V Menon is the creator of #DeGenderFashion: a movement to degender fashion and beauty industries and have been honored as one of HuffPo’s Culture Shifters, NBC’s Pride 50, and Business Insider’s Doers. They are also the author of Femme in Public (2017), Beyond the Gender Binary (2020), and Your Wound/My Garden (2021). Over the past decade they have toured in more than 40 countries, most recently headlining the Vancouver Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and selling out their runs at the Soho Theatre in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

On screen, they will make their feature film debut in Absolute Dominion. On television, they have appeared on Netflix’s Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and The Trans List. with Jonathan Van Ness, HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and The Trans List.

Joining Alok in for this show are:

Dainiella Mendonca
Daniella is a storyteller, Tedx speaker and a social worker. Her work and story has been covered by multiple coveted platforms, and she has graced stages like The Economist in Honk Kong, Salzburg in Nepal, Amplify Speak in Taiwan etc Daniella also the first Intersex Indian Tedx speaker and an advocate of right to gender expression and identity.

Priyanka Paul
Priyanka Paul is a poet, an illustrator and a writer. Their work revolves around the themes of social justice, self exploration and understanding marginalisation.

ELSZ
Growing up between Sri Lanka and Australia, ELSZ is a producer, harpist, dancer & vocalist based in Brooklyn. ELSZ’ experience of racism, gender violence & war coupled with her own abstract expressions of her emotional / spiritual landscape, imbue her most recent work.

ELSZ‘ transfixing live show was titled as one of the best of SXSW 2018 by the Daily Beast next to the likes of Princess Nokia.

ELSZ’ most recent release ‘Dark Room’ has been on rotation on MTV Australia, Rage, FBI radio and Triple J. ELSZ had been featured in publications such as the Daily Beast, NY Times, Indie Current, Paper Mag, Elle India, Knockturnal, Au Review, Purple Sneakers comparing her to the likes of Kelela, Bjork and FKA Twigs.
