By Duncan Macmillan
English Play

An NCPA Production in association with QTP

“Do you ever worry that bringing a child into this world would be like setting them up for a life of uncertainty and chaos? Or maybe it’s the greatest act of hope we could ever commit to.”

Following an acclaimed run in 2022, “Lungs” by Duncan Macmillan returns to the NCPA, this time in the Experimental Theatre. This thought-provoking play delves into the challenges faced by a couple contemplating parenthood amid pressing global issues such as climate change, overpopulation, and political unrest.

Directed by Q, this NCPA production in association with QTP features Dilnaz Irani and Prashant Prakash, who bring a raw authenticity to their performances. Their portrayal of a couple navigating the complexities of love, commitment, and ethical dilemmas in a contemporary Indian setting is sure to once again resonate with a generation contemplating parenthood.

“Lungs” is a play that doesn’t shy away from asking the tough questions. With its blend of humour, drama, and insightful moments, it provides an engaging theatrical experience that entertains and encourages audiences to reflect deeply on global and local issues and their impact on personal choices.
