Umang is a platform for promising artistes. This month, we present Manasvini Ramachandran, Preetisha Mohapatra & Aishwariya Singhdev.

Manasvini Ramachandran is the daughter and disciple of Smt. Revathi Ramachandran. She has trained in the Melattur Bani style of Bharatanatyam for over two decades. She has also undergone training under Sri Sheejith Krishna and in music under Vidushi Suguna Purushothaman and Dr. Gayatri K. Prasanna. After completing a B. Tech degree in Biotechnology from Anna University, she went on to do a Masters’ in Fine Arts in Bharatanatyam from Sastra University, Thanjavur and her thesis was guided by Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Manasvini is a graded artiste by Doordarshan, and also empanelled by the ICCR. She has performed both in India and abroad and has many titles to her name including ‘Natya Chudar’, ‘Yuva Kala Bharati’ and ‘Yuva Kala Vipanchee’. She is currently the Principal and Director of Kala Sadhanalaya and teaches Bharatanatyam to underprivileged children across schools in Chennai through her organisation Kadhir Foundation.

Preetisha Mohapatra is the granddaughter of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and the daughter of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, making her the third-generation performer of the illustrious first family of Odissi. As a member of the Srjan ensemble and a soloist, she has performed at major dance festivals throughout the country and abroad. Displaying a rare combination of her grandfather’s vision and her father’s penchant for perfection, Preetisha strives to reach the level of perfection and discipline that has been in the family since three generations.

Aishwariya Singhdev has been learning Odissi dance from “SRJAN” since the last decade and is one of the most coveted members of the Srjan repertory. Under the guidance of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, she qualified for the examination of Nrutya Shastri (Purna) organized by Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, Bhubaneswar. She is a graded artist of Doordarshan and an ICCR empanelled artist. She has performed in numerous festivals both in India and abroad as an ensemble member including Khajuraho, Mukteshwar, and NCPA Nakshatra in India and at South Korea, Egypt, South Africa & Zimbabwe and Kuala Lumpur among others.
