Sacred Music Concert with Improvisational Dance
27th April – 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm
A powerful and stirring musical tribute by sacred vocalist Shruthi Vishwanath and musicians, Hitesh Dhutia and Vinayak Netke, to the poetry of great women mystics, this music and dance theatre premiere invokes a range of poets, from the female varkaris of Maharashtra to the Tamil poet Andal and Buddhist nun Bhadda Kundalakesha. Kathak and contemporary dancer Sanjukta Wagh weaves her way in and out of this performance in an improvisational dialogue with the music. Drawing its title from the startlingly audacious verse of Janabai, this production is a magical weave of the sonic and the spatial.
