This theatrical production is based on women-centric stories and traces the lives of four incredible women from the performing arts who were the first stars of Hindi cinema – as leading actor, playback singer, first woman composer and doyen of music. In the theatrical production, two actors on stage trace the history and discuss the various aspects of Hindi cinema in a well-scripted dialogue giving insight to the life and times of these brilliant and talented women. This production, along with an audio-visual, traces the music of Hindi cinema and its influences. The lead character, the classical dancer, forms an integral part of the theatrical story and recreates the music and dance of that era, linking the stories together, the songs actually sung by these great singers the tawaifs, songs are remembered even today, the women, however, are sadly forgotten. The dancer recreates these songs for the audiences, bringing to life a lost era.
