In collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations

Jhakri dance is new to today’s generation but this cultural dance form, which is becoming extinct in the Konkan region, is registering its presence in Mauritius, where it is celebrated with great pomp and fervour. Many years ago, a few workmen from Konkan migrated to Mauritius to work in the sugarcane fields and carried with them their traditional dance of Jhakri. The programme will consist of jhakri dance with sega and Bhojpuri dances along with Marathi and Mauritian songs.

Admission passes can be collected by Members from the Box Office from 26th November onwards.
