Barry Douglas has established a major international career since winning the Gold Medal at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, Moscow. He has performed with every major international orchestra and collaborated with such conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Colin Davis, Mariss Jansons, Kurt Masur, Lorin Maazel, André Previn, Leonard Slatkin, Yvegeny Svetlanov, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Yuri Temirkanov. A highly sought-after recitalist and chamber musician, he has given performances across the globe including at Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, Wigmore Hall, and at the Verbier Festival. Barry is an exclusive Chandos recording artist and recently completed a six-album recording of the full works for solo piano of Brahms, which was hailed by International Record Review which said “this is indeed Brahms playing of the utmost integrity and authority… this cycle looks set to become a benchmark version.” His current recording projects focus on the solo piano works of Schubert and Tchaikovsky, which form the basis of his recital in Mumbai.
