The Symphony Orchestra of India will perform for the first time in Croydon at Fairfield Halls. They will be conducted by the distinguished conductor Richard Farnes in a performance that includes Rossini’s bravura overture from his opera Semiramide and Khachaturian’s thrilling violin concerto, performed by Marat Bisengaliev. The concert will end with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s most popular symphony, his Symphony No. 6, known as the “Pathetique”, the premiere of which Tchaikovsky conducted himself a fortnight before his death.
