Imagine viewing the world in the form of binary data rather than the full sensory experience you currently have. That’s what a world without the arts would be. The arts reflect our cultures, provide commentary on it, transmit it, and shape it. They help us express our emotions and share our stories.
For 50 years, the NCPA has been the custodian of India’s rich and vibrant artistic heritage. We have been adding art to people’s lives by presenting renowned artists in striking performances, across our five stages. It enriches people right from the moment they enter the campus grounds, to long after they leave their seats after witnessing a stellar performance. This year, as part of a year- long celebration to mark 50 years, the NCPA launches the NCPA ADD ART FESTIVAL, running 29th November to 1st December, with an opening night gala on 28th November.
The multi-genre festival brings together the crème de la crème of art and culture including performances by Arturo Sandoval, Zakir Hussain, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Birju Maharaj, Aditi Mangaldas, the Symphony Orchestra of India, Jim Sarbh and many more.
The festival also includes a wide variety of unique experiences from the culinary to visual arts. These entail homages to great food legacies and the juxtaposition of exquisite traditions and modern techniques. Different worlds collide beautifully in a celebration of flavours from around the world, ranging from Indian to Italian, Chinese to Mediterranean, and popular local Bombay delicacies – including authentic, sensational Parsi cuisine. And an oasis that offers delectable cocktails and an indulgent beer & canapés garden.
ADD ART is an act, a philosophy, a way of rejigging our lives. It is the power of experiencing live performances. It is the moment we allow something that we’ve witnessed to expand our minds. It is the change in perception, whether inspired by a story, painting, performance, poem, song, or dance. ADD ART is a timely reminder that we are all creative in some way and art is for everyone.
So come ‘Experience It Live’ at the NCPA ADD ART FESTIVAL.
